About Plannify
Plannify started from our own experience as parents with children at college that struggled to pro-actively plan their work. How to help our students plan their work in such that they experience the learning process without the pain of having us nagging and continuously questioning when/if they are have completed their homework, prepared their exams and managed their projects/assignments. How to balance the need to ensure homework is completed and the need of independence of our children in their learning process? Those were the types of questions continuously hanging in the back of our mind. We started to sketch what will become Plannify through an iterative process using my personal experience as French teacher in the education system (French as well as Dutch institutions), my husband's experience as business professional (project management, fact based quality methods, Agile/Scrum) and the Kanban Visual Board system as used by R&D, IT teams and manufacturing production lines to successfully plan, execute and monitor their daily operations.
We naturally started by experimenting the Kanban approach with a brown paper in our children room’s wall with 3 columns “ToDo | InProgress | Done” and post-its as taskcards for the homework. Listing and moving the cards from ToDo till Done that step by step process day in day out provided our children the satisfaction of achievements, they were owning their board daily-weekly and our role turned from nagging to more supportive when questions or help was needed.
Seeing the success it brought (better grades, more fun in the learning process, self esteem, autonomy and independence ) to our children – What a virtuous cycle ! We naturally decided to bring Plannify as a simple, easy and visual task management tool to the students community worldwide
